MEET THE TEAM
Coming to us straight from Egypt, Adham is our head Judo sensei and Owner at Griffin Performance Judo. Adham is currently a professional competitor for the Egyptian National Team. He holds a 3rd degree blackbelt in judo and national level Coach certification in the US. He has won numerous International Championship titles and has a an incredible amount of competition experience under his belt. We are excited to have him being at the heart of out judo Athletic development program. We are excited for our students to be able to learn from his competition Style Judo.
Hyesun Lee is a dedicated athlete, judo competitor, and instructor. She started her judo journey when she was 9 years old. Hyesun Received her 4th degree black belt in Korea when she was only 23 years old. She was a team member for the Korean Junior National Judo Team at the age 16, and was selected to be part of Korean Women National Olympic Team at the age of 18. She was part of the Korean National team for 2012 London Olympics. She holds a Bachelor in Physical Education and a Master in Physical Education & Sports Psychology. She moved to the States, hoping to share her passion and wealth of knowledge of judo with competitive athletes and new judo students in the US.
CODY "THREE BEARS" COSTELLO
As a seasoned Sensei and Teacher of Judo, Cody brings a wealth of knowledge teaching the proper technique and important skills to all levels of Judo. GPJ is happy to have Cody as a contributing sensei. Cody holds a 2nd Degree blackbelt. Cody also excels with our younger students. He has an amazing teaching style that effectively reaches all ages.
Originally from Goiania, Brazil, Newton Moved to the US in 1997.
He Started his journey as a judoka when he was 5 years old in Brazil and received his Black belt in 2003 from Sensei Mel Augustine in Albany. Newton was a wrestler through high school and was inducted to the Albany High Hall of Fame. In 2005, Newton started to learn Brazilian Jiu-jitsu under Master Eduardo Fraga and received his black belt in 2011. He currently holds a 3rd degree black belt in both Judo and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. Newton is a fierce competitor and still competes at the highest international level.
Jonathan Cotte is the Business Manager & Owner of Griffin Performance Judo. He Holds a 2nd degree Black belt in Judo and a National Coach Certification with USA Judo. Jonathan still loves to compete and is always looking for new challenges. He is a designer at heart with a burning passion for Judo.
